Unsent letters to the editor.
The Australian dream rarely exists within young Australians now, most believe they will never have the means or financial security to own a home.
The cost of education is rising once more, reinforcing the age old notion that education is only for the wealthy. Those who manage to get an education then face a jobless future, with the ever growing retirement age ensuring that baby boomers remain (often unqualified) in quality jobs, leaving only the menial for the young, if they’re lucky. Women, making up half the population still do not have the same life chances as men. parliament has descended into nothing more than school yard bickering. Policy is written by accountants because money, not human capital - is the bottom line. Climate change, pollution, over population, peak oil, degradation of agricultural land and dwindling polluted water supplies continue to chip away at the quality of life for present and future generations.
I guess when an ignorant baby boomer calls my generation and those after mine “no hopers” they are getting one thing right, we have no hope.
